Principles

Somewhat utopic and pedantically, but not in the least dishonestly, Global Political Economy Monitor and Analysis (GPEMA) is based on four principles which guided its creation and will continue to guide its developement:

• Bis dat quid cito dat
  • This is a website dedicated to freely aggregating and providing a selection of freely available macroeconomic variables through charts, as well as by linking to the original sources.
• Scientia potentia est
  • Its aim is to extend visitors’ understanding of the political and economic environment in which they dwell. Hopefully, this exercise will facilitate the monitoring of private and public agents and mitigate any latent moral hazard risk. If information is power, more information empowers further.
• Semper Reformanda
  • This monitoring is made necessary by the ever shifting nature of our world. As economic and political circumstances change, so do economic agents and politicians. Tracking these changes and reforms, both qualitative and quantitatively is crucial to allow us, as citizens, interest groups, corporations and political parties to understand and influence the world around us.
• Per Bonum Commune Communitatis
  • By pursuing all of the above goals, GPEMA hopes to provide transparency and coherence to what very often appears to be chaos and confusion. In so doing it hopes to somewhat minimise asymmetries of information and marginally contribute to the improvement of our general welfare.

Operational Details

Geographical Focus – In an ever globalised world, the focus is on regional clusters, revolving around the economies and geo-polities that will shape the 20th century:

• The People’s Republic of China
• The European Union
• The Federal Republic of India
• The Empire of Japan
• The United States of America

Periodicity of Updates – Because it is done on a part time basis, update of this website will be carried more sparsely than ideally desired. Updates will occur on a monthly and quarterly basis, depending on the periodicity of variables.
